Priority areas

In order to generate and transfer demand and innovation oriented research for the industry, and solutions that contribute to the solution of the country's problems, ESPOL establishes its priority areas of research, considering the challenges, threats and opportunities that the country and the Coastal region present, as well as the institutional capacities in research and development. Our researchers continually participate in processes of inquiry and reflection on current and future lines of action. Based on this, we have set ten priority areas of research which are: Supply chain and logistics; Digital technologies; Sustainable and innovative industry; Economic development; Agricultural and aquaculture production and its transformation; Environment, climate and disaster risk reduction; Health, welfare and human development; Education and communication and Energy efficiency, renewable and alternative energies; and Basic science development.

  3. Study and prediction of behaviors and the logical consequences of random phenomena and development of statistical methods and techniques to understand the data coming from some probabilistic model.
  4. Study of open problems, based on algebraic and topological structures, to generate new mathematical knowledge and provide theoretical resources that are used by researchers in mathematics and other areas of science and engineering.
  5. Optimization of processes applied to the planning of operations, subject to restrictions or not, of organizations, to minimize the costs involved.
